Summer means backyard barbecues, picnics with friends and relaxing poolside. We thought we would share some of our staff’s favorite summer drinks (including non-alcoholic and kid friendly ones) to help make your gathering more festive and fun. Here are the recipes:

Equal parts cold beer and lemonade make the British Shandy Jessica’s preferred summer drink. A global seasonal favorite, this refreshing drink is also referred to as a French Panache or a German Radler. We just call it delicious!
  1. 6 oz chilled lemonade
  2. 6 oz chilled beer
  3. Lemon twist
  • Pour 6 oz of lemonade followed by 6 oz of beer into a chilled glass. Add a twist of lemon.

Amanda can’t resist a Paloma with the perfect mix of sweet and tangy.
  1. 1 ½ shots of reposado tequila or any good quality blanco tequila
  2. 1/2 shot of agave syrup or sugar syrup
  3. About 75ml club soda
  4. A squirt of fresh lime juice optional
  • Mix the grapefruit juice, tequila and sugar syrup until well mixed.
  • Rim a tall glass with salt. Add some chili to the salt for a little kick.
  • Pour over ice and top up with soda water. Add a squirt of lime juice. Garnish with a grapefruit or lime wedge.

Laura loves using an array of in-season summer fruits to make a refreshing Sangria for her summer parties. You can use any dry red or white wine. For a fizzy sangria, add club soda before serving.
  1. 1 bottle of red or white wine
  2. ¼ – ½ cup of Brandy, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier
  3. 1/3 - ½ cup of orange juice
  4. ¼ cup white granulated sugar (optional)
  5. 1 orange thinly sliced
  6. 1 lemon thinly sliced
  7. 1 lime thinly sliced
  8. 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
  9. 1 cup raspberries, blueberries, sliced nectarines, plums or any other summer fruit of your choosing.
  • In a large pitcher mix the fruit, wine, brandy, sugar, and orange juice.
  • Chill for a few hours to allow the fruits and flavors to meld
  • Serve over ice

We’re not sure if this is technically a drink or a dessert, but Kevin loves an orange creamsicle cocktail. This adult version of an ice-cream float takes us right back to our childhood.
  1. 1 – 1 ½ oz of vanilla or citrus flavored Vodka
  2. 1 ½ oz of orange juice (no pulp please)
  3. 2 ½ tablespoons of vanilla ice cream
  4. 5 ice cubes
  • Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend on low, then slowly increase the intensity. Blend for 30 seconds until the ice is pulverized and the texture is frothy. The end result should be icy and creamy.
  • Pour into a chilled martini glass.
  • Add an orange twist

A native of Brazil, Patricia’s go to summer drink is a Brazilian lemonade. Don’t let the name fool you – there are no lemons in this drink. Some recipes also add condensed milk.
  1. 2 limes
  2. 3 cups of water
  3. ½ cup of sugar
  4. Ice cubes
  • Cut off the ends and slice the limes
  • Place the limes in a blender with water, sugar and ice. Pulse, do not blend too much or it will become bitter. Strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove the rind ends. Serve over ice.

Cheers to a fun summer!
