Just in time for the dog days of summer, SweisKloss designed and constructed this modern pool and spa for a recent new build.

The homeowner wanted a contemporary pool and spa to be designed and built on the rectangular shaped lot in time for the summer months. Excavation for the 12’ x 17’ 8’ deep pool and 3’6” deep spa were started right away.
Next steps, steel installation set the shape, plumbing and electrical work were done and then concrete was poured. For the plastering, we used Plaster Scapes Deep Blue Harbor on both the pool and the spa.
Arto’s Roman Smoke tile was used for the coping where the pool’s edge meets the deck. Natural soapstone was used for the pool’s waterline tile and on all four sides of the spa’s infinity edges. The pebbles in the spa trough are San Quintin Black Mini Flats and Lava Black. Shrubs and pavers adorn the perimeter of the pool and spa. An automatic cover protects the pool when not in use.
The highlight of the backyard oasis is the sculptural slide designed by UK-based Splinterworks. The stainless-steel form is a combination slide, outdoor sculpture and statement piece. “The sweeping shape has the appeal of a stylized high heel shoe…” (Splinterworks) and promises a smooth ride. It features a “proprietary cooling system to ensure the ... slide remains slippy and safe to touch in hot weather” – with jets spraying cool water on the whole sliding surface and an internal water-cooled handrail.

It was delivered by a mobile crane and guided into place by the SK team. It took well into the night to dismantle the slide from the delivery frame, and then install and secure the structure.
The final product is a modern and sleek pool and spa that are aesthetically pleasing and inviting, and completed in time to be enjoyed all summer.
