I liked learning about our staffs’ favorite moments of holidays past and traditions they do to this day. Allow me to share; reading them will make you smile. We’d love to hear from you! Tell us one of your favorite things in the comment section below.
Abeer: Creating a space to gather, eat, and enjoy each other’s company is my favorite thing to do during this time of gratitude and giving. I absolutely love going to all the parties and dinners and always look forward to the family sponsorship event we do each year for Children’s Hospital. I run around like mad the entire month of December and get completely wiped out, but funny enough, I look forward to doing it all again the following year!
Aimee: When our kids were born, my husband and I started a tradition that every Christmas Eve we would get one new ornament for them. After writing their name and the year on each ornament, we’d add them to our tree. As they got older, we had them pick out their own. Yep, we will forever have a SpongeBob SquarePants ornament grinning at us each year!
Amanda B.: My holiday tradition starts with spending time with family and friends, followed by a road trip with my husband--somewhere different each year. Last year we spent time exploring Big Sur, and this year we'll be skiing in the local mountains!!
Amanda C.: Every Christmas Eve my extended family gets together on the front lawn of the little house in Weymouth, MA, where my great grandparents lived when they moved from Italy, and we sing Christmas carols around a fire. My father and uncle play their saxophones, and my oldest cousin leads the songs. Neighbors come out to listen, and locals honk as they drive by. It’s our family’s most beloved tradition that we’ve kept alive for generations.
Georgeanna: My favorite part of the holidays is spending time with friends and family and of course eating panettone, which I usually get from Galco’s in Highland Park.
Jeff: I look forward to Christmas morning brunch with family and friends.
Jessica: I lived in a small town for part of my childhood, and my favorite thing to do at the holidays was to go to the local mall with my mom on Christmas Eve, sit on a bench sipping a Gloria Jean’s hot cocoa, and watch all the men running to and fro scrambling to buy last minute Christmas gifts. Usually we’d run into my dad!!
Patricia: My kids still believe in Santa and elves so I go all out with letters and phone calls from the North Pole. My girls have even seen a picture of Santa dropping off the presents—it’s amazing what phone apps can do these days. We have an elf Emily who comes on December 1st, and every day she leaves little favors behind, like chocolates, until the end of the month.
Taylor: My family and extended family stay over at my grandparent’s house the night before Christmas Eve and have a huge slumber party and play games and such. On Christmas Eve morning, we all share gifts and have an amazing breakfast together. My grandmother’s homemade chocolate syrup to drizzle on top of fresh biscuits is so good!
From our family to yours, warm wishes for a holiday season full of your favorites.
