Lighting Trends We Love

From jewel inspired chandeliers to organic shaped floor lamps, lighting can really set the mood. Whether you’re planning a dinner party with friends or a romantic evening, this Valentine’s Day consider some of these lighting trends that are lighting up 2025.
Go Big or Go Home
From large, jewel-like chandeliers to oversized sculptural floor lamps, statement lighting is having a moment. Swag or draped chandeliers create drama in any room, as the cords or strands are attached to the ceiling at different points. Houzz likens this newest style to “a necklace-like flexible strand of lights.” Multiple strands of crystal and brass from Sean Lavin’s Collier collection can be hung in varying lengths and heights to help make your dinner feast sparkle.
Organic & Natural
2025’s trend toward the natural shines through in the use of organic materials and shapes in lighting. Softer, more natural textures and colors create an inviting and warm environment. Think rattan, seagrass and other plant fibers incorporated into shades. Woven designs and rope details adorn fixtures. “'Materials like linen and cotton not only add tactile appeal but also enhance the diffusion of light, casting a soft and soothing glow” explains Charlie Bowels of Original BTC (Homesandgarden.com). These natural fabrics also align with the current interest in sustainable resources. Motifs from nature sprout up in light fixture designs from flower shaped fixtures to foliage inspired pieces. Nature inspired the artistic piece “in the guise of branches of white leaves” SK used in a recent project (Mooroi x Bertjan Pot's Heracleum II Suspension Lamp). And Venetto Design goes fabulous with an imitation of a palm tree with leaf-like ostrich feathers.
Retro
Past meets present as Mid Century, Art Deco and Art Nouveau pieces blend style and function, “making them ideal for desks, side tables, or even entryways where a touch of artistry can transform the space," notes Lindsay Colhoun (elledecor.com). Consider lighting pieces that double as art. In keeping with the resurge of updating older styles, vintage light fixtures, such as a Tiffany lamp, exude personality, nostalgic charm and artistry.
Layered Look
“Using layers—like task, accent, and ambient lighting—brings dimension and warmth, letting rooms shift in mood throughout the day” according to Kara Childress (Housebeautiful.com). Combine wall sconces and table lamps to create a warm glow, subtle lighting and cozy pockets of light. This Beacon Hall sconce SK used at this Culver City residence created an intimate space. Use varying lighting sources at different levels for a more dynamic effect.
Moody Metals and Colors
Warming and darkening metals, such as burnt brass and oil-rubbed bronze, compliment the overall trend in furnishings towards earthier and deeper colors. These understated finishes can evoke a sense of timeless elegance, sophistication and even artisanal charm. Lamp shades in vibrant rich colors can transform a simple lamp into an accent piece. Colorful glass globes come in various hues and opacity to create specific moods and atmosphere.
