Earlier this autumn, SweisKloss finished construction on this SK-designed home in Westchester. Sophistication meets comfort in this modern space.

Inspired by the clean lines and proportion of the original 1930’s Parisian Parsons table, Restoration Hardware’s Arles rectangular dining table is “distinguished by dramatically angled legs that lend modern elegance to the traditional form” (Restoration Hardware). In keeping with client’s minimalist interior design palette, the table and chairs are finished in brown oak, contrasting dramatically with the chair seat and back upholstered in a fog-colored textured linen weave. The classic color scheme is completed by Creative Material’s Greige colored stained concrete flooring, and walls and ceiling painted in Sherwin William’s Snowbound. With a nod to mid-century design, RH’s Morgan Barrelback Slope Arm fabric dining armchairs feature tapered legs to create a striking silhouette while the upholstered seat and back provide comfort and support.

The centerpiece of the room is Litfad’s large rectangular metal hanging ceiling light. The modern chandelier offers an adjustable hanging height and LED lights. The three-sided fireplace adds a sense of warmth and ambiance, and seamlessly connects the dining space to the living room. Element 4’s gas fireplace features four different settings, each of which creates a different flame effect. Natural-looking wood logs and LED lights on the ends give the appearance of glowing embers. Dishes, barware and other serving utensils are conveniently stored in the dining buffet and displayed on the wall unit with in-shelving lights.
